About

Hi! I’m Brandon Than — a pre-med student at the University of Houston Honors College, majoring in Biology and minoring in Medicine & Society. I’m passionate about the intersection of medicine, research, and health equity. Through my journey, I’ve discovered a deep calling toward breast surgical oncology, and I’m currently leading and co-leading initiatives to develop targeted peptide and mRNA cancer vaccines, whilst leading community engagement initiatives such as leading an after-school science mentorship program within Houston’s Third Ward and creating a SEL and English learning program for asylum-seeking children and mothers.

This blog is a space for me to reflect on the incredible experiences shaping my path to becoming a physician. Whether it’s shadowing world-class surgeons at MD Anderson, mentoring young students in science, or navigating research challenges, I want to document the moments that teach me what it truly means to care, to lead, and to heal.

Thanks for being here — I hope my journey inspires, informs, or resonates with you in some way.

I’m Brandon!
